Privacy Policy

Fruit Finder ("we", "us") helps people discover and share publicly accessible fruit-foraging spots. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email, our authentication provider (Clerk) shares your name, email address, and profile photo with us.
• Profile information you provide, such as your username, display name, bio, and location text.
• Location. With your permission, we use your device location to show fruit spots near you and to place the map pin when you add a spot. You can deny location access and still use the app. Separately, we derive a coarse city/region from your IP address when you open the app, so we can understand where our audience is; we never derive or store precise location from your IP.
• Content you create, including fruit spots, reviews, photos, and verifications.
• Usage information. We record when you open the app and aggregate counts of spots, reviews, and other activity to understand how the app is used.
• Analytics. We use PostHog to collect basic product analytics: app opens, screens viewed, session length, and device type/OS version. We do not record session replays, touch heatmaps, or your precise movements. Analytics events from signed-in users are linked to your account ID so we can measure retention; they are never sold.

How we use information

• To operate the app: showing nearby spots, your profile, badges, and leaderboards.
• To keep the community safe: reviewing reported content and enforcing our Terms of Service.
• To improve the app through aggregate, non-identifying analytics.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that run the app: Clerk (authentication), Google Cloud (hosting and photo storage), Neon (database), and PostHog (product analytics). Public content you post — spots, reviews, and your username — is visible to other users by design.

Your choices

• You can edit your profile information at any time in the app.
• You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile > Delete Account. This is immediate and irreversible.
• You can block other users from their profile page; their spots and reviews will be hidden from you.
• You can opt out of product analytics at any time by emailing us at the address below; we will exclude your account ID from future collection.

Children

Fruit Finder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date above will always reflect the current version.
